Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, Dar said protests and sit-in caused significant damage to the national economy.

Dar identified terrorism as one of the biggest challenges facing the region and the world. He said Pakistan had made immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and had confronted the threat with courage, determination and resilience.

He noted that the prolonged war against terrorism had inflicted severe economic losses on Pakistan and stressed that the country’s sacrifices must be acknowledged. Pakistan, he said, had faced tragic incidents, including the Jaffar Express tragedy and the abduction and killing of workers in Balochistan.

Dar said the government, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, had been working on a new strategy to eliminate terrorism. He added that law enforcement agencies were working around the clock to counter the threat.

He said Pakistan had sacrificed more than 90,000 lives in the war against terrorism.

He said Field Marshal Asim Munir remained committed to eliminating terrorism, adding that operations against militants were being conducted daily on his instructions.

Dar also called on the Afghan authorities to ensure that their territory was not used for terrorist activities. He said Pakistan, China and Afghanistan had held a trilateral meeting in Kabul in August 2025, but Afghan authorities had regrettably failed to fulfil their commitments regarding terrorism.

He warned that banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups operating from Afghanistan posed a threat to regional peace and security.

The deputy prime minister said militants crossed the border to attack Pakistani security personnel and civilians. He added that Pakistan had installed a security fence along the Afghan border and had provided extensive assistance to Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds.

Dar stressed that Pakistan’s sincere efforts to promote peace and stability in the region could not be overlooked.
